Living in this lovely part of Cyprus, close to Latchi Harbour and the coast, I'm drawn to so many different things I see around me that I find it hard to fit myself into a specific artistic category. I've enjoyed working mainly in watercolours for many years, choosing to paint landscapes, coastal scenes, floral and some still-life themes, but I also like to use other media such as pastels, pen and wash, collage and/or other effects to develop my ideas when the subject matter dictates. The textures, colours and shapes of old boats and buildings hold a special fascination for me and I enjoy returning to them often, working in acrylics to achieve bolder and more striking results.

I studied Textile design at Leicester Polytechnic in the 1960's and subsequently worked as a designer in Lancashire U.K. for some years before going to live in the Middle East with my husband. It was here that I spent time developing my painting skills and did my first commissions. My early work in Textile design has given me a love of contrasting colours, patterns and textures which I like to bring into my paintings. I enjoy what I see around me and, rather than trying to alter or abstract the subjects, I often like to chose aspects that give slightly different views of familiar subjects.

My recent paintings, which are focused on boats and water, show the influence that my husband's involvement with the sea, both as a professional yacht skipper and a leisure sailor has had on my work. We lived in the west of England between 1983 and 2006. I exhibited in many shows and galleries during that time and undertook more commissions of a variety of subjects including boats, houses, landscapes and murals. I also taught watercolour painting to adult students from 1999, which I found very rewarding.

I moved to Cyprus in Autumn 2006 and have found the light, colours and contrasts in my surroundings very inspiring. I try to capture this intensity in my work, from the most delicate wildflowers to dramatic ruins and rocky coastlines. Exhibitions in Cyprus: I have exhibited and sold my work at art gallery Forza 9, the En-Plo Gallery in Paphos on several occasions and also at the Terebinth Tree Art Café in Meso Chorio.
